ADVENTURE TIME! ...and new store

Hey guys, sorry I'm not too diligent about updating.
My primary job as an animator/illustrator has been preetty hectic, but 1)I've got more exciting animation 2)I designed my friend's new album, 3) I'm in a new band myself and an EP will be released soon, and 4) I have still managed to make time every day to spin.

Anyways, spinning is a total enjoyment, and I've been spinning every minute I can find to spare.
I'm still working on my biggest batch, so the inventory has not changed (also, I haven't finished updating my inventory), but now I have a yarn store branch.

http://yarn.azure-m.com

I think I will be posting my patterns here, and make http://knits.azure-m.com a completely ready-knitted (and art) store.

Anyho

Last week our good friend S.L commissioned me to make an amigurumi.
Not my forte, but I how can you resist when the commission is
JAKE FROM ADVENTURE TIME?

I found a perfect color yarn in my stash, KnitPicks Stroll (Fingering) that had been lying around.
I could not find a pattern, so I decided to improvise, but luckily he was made of pretty simple shape (except the snout).

Thank god I managed it!  And even better, S.L seemed to have liked it!
He will be carrying him around in his pocket at NY Comic-Con, dressed up as Finn.

Wahoo!

News and Updates

Hiya guys!  Long time no see!
It has been a while since I last updated this blog...

Some people may have thought that I might have stopped knitting or spinning, but...wroooong.
It is true that I have been involved in some insanely intense animation gigs and under extreme tight schedule I have not been able to knit or spin as I liked from March-June.  Most of July was our vacation time, and my husband and I visited home back in Japan and to SanDiego for ComicCon.
I was hoping to knit/spin there too, but Japan was extremely hot and we were walking about most of the time, and SanDiego was way chillier than I expected, but again we were out and about for most of the time.  So all I managed to do were some ipod cases and corsages.

However
Now, back home in NY, I have finally purchased.....

..........a Spinning wheel.

What does that mean?

yes, more yarn.

This year you won't only find hand-knitted accessories for your friends and families, but also some original hand-dyed, hand-spun yarn for the crafty ones :)

Yarn comes to AZURE KNTIS+!

I just noticed that I hadn't updated this blog in a while!  Sorry about that.
I actually have news, though some may have already noticed..

I have started selling my handspun yarn on my store!
Since I do not own a spinning wheel yet (YET), so everything is done on a drop spindle.  This is my newest addition to my spindle collection (though I only have 3 and 1 heading my way).  This one is a Golding.  Tiniest of the ones I have and perfect to take along with me everywhere.  One flick and spins forever.  I see how Golding spindles got so popular!  Anyho, I am still very fascinated how this non-mechanical device turns fluff into yarn.  Also it seems to hypnotize everyone around me when I spin.  lol

So check out my store (or http://www.etsy.com/shop/azurexazure?section_id=7484806) for new yarn!  (Some yarn are just hand dyed).  Right now I only have wool blends, but I will eventually venture into more exotic fiber.  More will be coming soon, so stay tuned!

Handspun and Handdyed!

So for the past few weeks now I have been doing an experiment.  My mother-in-law and father-in-law had given me a drop spindle and NiddyNoddy as a part of Christmas present, and one of my parents' present was a brand new wooden swift.  I had been wanting to try to spin for a while now, and these presents gave me a perfect opportunity for this!

The first yarn ended up being a pretty nice slub, so I'm making a cowl out of it.  I'm still thinking of what to make with the new one--it is still ever so slightly slub but waaaaaay more even.  So far I've only tried wool, but I have a bit of alpaca roving--looking forward to try different fibers!
Anyways, stay tuned for both handspun&handdyed yarn and the "H^3" Hand-spun Hand-dyed Hand-knitted series!
